To support MagVentures’ rapid expansion, we seek a Software Team Lead to guide our software development initiatives and create next-generation TMS treatment devices.

Software development

At MagVenture, the software controls hardware and various interfaces to magnetic stimulation. The future depends on sophisticated software solutions that can integrate into other technologies, such as MRI scans and robotics controls, to enhance treatments and create inituitive software solutions as customers shift towards clinical customers from research environments.

MagVenture is also expanding into other treatment types, requiring agile and adaptable software solutions.

The software team is vital in developing the next-gen platforms, focusing on integrated functionality – increased functionality is a common demand.

The Software Team will shape the software development by ensuring precise real-time control of magnetic pulses and seamless integration of hardware components like sensors and actuators, ensuring reliable and efficient device operation. This involves building software from scratch and both for PC applications and embedded systems, and responsibilities include developing the user interface, handling cloud and local client database deployments, and writing embedded software in C for ARM processors.

In 2024, the team will consist of a new Software Team Lead and five software developers. Within the coming year, it is expected to grow with two or more additional members, everyone with a hands-on attitude, including the Team lead.

Position overview

The Software Team lead will shape and prioritize the roadmap with the R&D and the MagVenture leadership team, focusing on both the development of new solutions (60%) and maintaining the existing platforms (40%).

Responsibilities include developing user interface software, embedded software for custom hardware components, and managing requests for creation of new clinics in our cloud system. Cybersecurity will also be essential.

The Software Team Lead will be pivotal in strengthening our software team. In the first few years, you will be both the Team Lead and doing software development yourself. You will guide our software development initiatives over the coming years. This role is crucial to our growth strategy, offering an opportunity to lead a dynamic team within our R&D department.

Reporting directly to the Head of R&D, you will play a key role in steering our software development projects from concept to delivery.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software developers, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Design and develop software solutions for medical devices.
  • Establish work processes and tools fit for purpose.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation of development processes and outcomes.
  • Manage software projects, timelines, and deliverables, providing strategic prioritization to the software team and the organisation.
  • Collaborate with project management to ensure development efforts are aligned with strategic objectives.

Technologies used by the software team

Web & server applications, webservices, Ethernet, HTTP, MariaDB / SQL, Embedded C, ARM, C#, .Net, WPF, Windows, Linux, Android.

Ideal candidate profile

  • A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in software development.
  • Professional work experience from regulated environments such as medical device or aerospace.
  • Professional work experience from end-to-end software development.
  • Prior team lead experience is highly advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills in both Danish and English.
  • Living in the Copenhagen area with a valid work & resident permit.
  • A collaborative spirit, thriving in teamwork and innovation.
